Junior Boomer Hudson came to the rescue for the Majors baseball team in both games against Austin College over the weekend.  He recorded his first save of the season on Saturday pitching 4 2/3 innings while allowing no runs and just one hit. Sunday afternoon, Hudson entered the game with the bases loaded and promptly got a fly ball out before striking out the final batter to earn the save. Hudson pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing just one hit while striking out six and holding the ‘Roos to a dismal .059 batting average.

Wes Perkins
Baseball

Freshman Wes Perkins of the baseball team capped a career weekend for the Majors against Austin College recording the first three home run game by a Millsaps player in over a decade on Sunday afternoon. His third blast of the game came in dramatic fashion with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to run rule AC. Perkins’ seven RBIs in the game are the most since Quinn Salmon drove in nine in 2008. This came after Perkins went 3-for-5 in Saturday’s game with three RBIs to finish the week with a .500 batting average (5-for-10) and 10 RBIs. His slugging percentage was a staggering 1.400 for the two games.
