Major Women Drop Pair of SCAC Matches on Road
Official Stats vs DePauw
Official Stats vs Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. –
Playing its final road matches of the season, the Millsaps women’s soccer team dropped a pair of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matches to DePauw University 1-0 and Centre College 4-3 (OT) over the weekend.

Facing the Tigers from DePauw Friday night, the Majors gave up a goal in the 8th minute as Emelie Johansson beat goalkeeper Sarah Nelin for the eventual game-winner. In a game played through a driving rainstorm, Millsaps was unable to find the back of the net for the second straight match and lost 1-0.

The Majors were outshot 9-3 in the contest while the Tigers also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Looking to break the scoreless streak against Centre Sunday afternoon, senior Leslie Robichaux netted her second hat-trick of the season, but the Colonels proved too strong as they rallied for a 4-3 victory in overtime.

Robichaux scored her first goal just 4:30 into the match on a free kick 20 yards from goal only to see Centre’s Brittany Garr tie the score 1-1 heading into the half.

Just three minutes into the second half, Robichaux struck again, this time scoring directly off a corner kick giving the Majors a 2-1 lead. However, back-to-back goals from the Colonels in the 58th and 61st minutes put Centre ahead 3-2.

Robichaux completed the hat-trick less than a minute later to tie the match at 3-3 and neither team was able to score again as regulation came to an end.

In the first overtime, Garr finished off a hat-trick of her own as she beat Nelin for the game-winning goal with only three seconds remaining in the period.

With the three goals, Robichaux moved into 3rd place all-time at Millsaps with 30 career goals and 4th place in career points with 70.

Millsaps falls to 7-7-3 overall and 1-5-2 in SCAC play and will close out the 2009 season at home this weekend with a conference match against Austin College Friday night and a non-conference match with the University of Dallas Sunday afternoon.
