Official Stats

JACKSON –
Playing its final match of the regular season last Friday night, the Millsaps College volleyball team fell 3-0 to cross-street rival Belhaven College in front of a packed house at Rugg Arena to split the season series at one game apiece.

The Majors (15-16 overall) were unable to get any consistent play falling by scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-20 while struggling to contain Christina Jaques of the Blazers, who finished with a team-leading 15 kills with an impressive .520 hitting percentage.

As a team, Millsaps put away 29 kills, but committed a season-high 27 hitting errors, which proved to be the main difference in the match.

Sophomore Maggie Tumminello led the Majors with eight kills and three service aces while senior Dixie Krauss and junior Erica Cook tallied six digs apiece to lead the defense.

Millsaps will be back in action Friday, Nov. 6, as they begin play at the 2009 SCAC Championship Tournament against host Oglethorpe University. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
