SAN ANTONIO, Texas - On Sunday afternoon, the Millsaps College men's basketball team carried a 14-point lead into halftime only to see Trinity University rally in the second half and win 60-59 on a layup by Peter Garatoni with two seconds remaining in the game.

Blake Martinez had a shot to win the game as the buzzer sounded but his attempt would not go as the Majors suffered their fifth straight road loss and fall to 9-12 on the season and 5-8 in the SCAC.
Millsaps entered the day a game behind Trinity in the SCAC West Division standings and now find themselves a game behind Colorado College for the fourth and final spot in the conference tournament.
Trinity improved to 10-11 overall and 7-6 in the SCAC with its fourth straight victory to move into third place in the division.
The Majors got out to a hot start shooting 62 percent from the floor in the first half while holding the Tigers to 31 percent to take a 38-24 lead into halftime.
The lead grew to as many as 16 points in the second half but Trinity continued to fight as it outscored Millsaps 14-1 in the game's final four minutes to steal the victory, 60-59.
Martinez was the only Millsaps player to reach double figures scoring 23 points while connecting on 5-of-10 3-point attempts to go with a team-high eight rebounds.
Brian Merkel scored five of his nine points from the charity stripe for the Majors who finished the game shooting 46 percent.
Garatoni led the Tigers with 14 points and five rebounds while Luke Caldarera recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Next up for the Majors is a match-up with conference opponent Hendrix College at The Hangar Dome on Feb. 13 at 3 p.m.
