Majors Drop Pair at No. 2 East Texas Baptist Univ.
Marshall, Texas - After being rained out of Friday’s action, play resumed Saturday with the Millsaps College softball team facing the preseason No. 2 team from East Texas Baptist University and the Tigers swept the doubleheader by scores of 4-1 and 3-1.

In game one, the Majors fell behind early allowing three runs in the first inning as the Tigers took advantage of a Millsaps error to take the 3-0 lead.

ETBU added a run in the bottom of the third for a 4-0 advantage before the Majors got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth with a home run by Megan Yglesias, her second of the season.

The Tigers closed out the first game 4-1 as Millsaps stranded 10 base-runners in the game.

Senior Kasey Thibodeaux took the loss for the Majors allowing four runs –two earned—on four hits in six complete innings.

Game two began with the Tigers again taking an early lead as they scored a run in the bottom of the third inning for a 1-0 lead.

After adding another run in the fourth for a 2-0 lead, the Majors cut the deficit in half when Jennifer McKinley hit her first home run of the season.

ETBU shut down Millsaps the rest of the way and scored an insurance run in the sixth to sweep the doubleheader with a 3-1 victory in game two.

The Majors could not capitalize with runners on base stranding eight in the second game for a total of 18 in the two games.

Thibodeaux got the loss in the circle for Millsaps pitching another complete game allowing all three runs on five hits.

The Majors (1-5) will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to the University of West Alabama for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. Live stats of the game can be accessed by clicking here.
