Millsaps Men Finish Weekend Trip 2-1
MOBILE, Ala. – The Millsaps College men’s tennis team returned from a weekend trip where they finished 2-1 by defeating Huntingdon College 5-0 and Piedmont College 5-0 before falling to the University of Mobile 5-4.

Facing the Hawks in Montgomery, Ala., on Saturday morning, the Majors took care of business quickly by sweeping through doubles for a 3-0 advantage.

In singles action, Adam Tilly and Beau Hinton won easily in straight sets at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively, to give Millsaps the 5-0 victory in a match played to decision due to the threat of poor weather.

The Majors continued their strong play again sweeping the three doubles points, this time against the Lions from Piedmont College.

Both David Bastian and Geoff Joseph won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 and No. 6 singles spots to close out the match 5-0 in favor of Millsaps.

Traveling to Mobile, Ala., on Monday, the Majors were not as fortunate and lost a tough match to the University of Mobile, 5-4.

After falling behind 2-1 in doubles action, Millsaps won three of the top four singles positions to take a 4-3 lead.

The Rams rallied to win the final two singles points to claim the match 5-4.

The Majors, now 4-7 on the season, will return to the court on March 26 when they host the University of Texas-Tyler, who is ranked No. 20 nationally.
