JACKSON- The Millsaps Majors got a goal from Adam Shubert with just over five minutes left and hung on for an 11-10 win over the Huntingdon Hawks Saturday night under the lights at Harper Davis Field.

As the score would indicate, this one was back and forth all evening long. Simon Sherman scored quickly twice with the man advantage to give Millsaps the early lead. Three straight goals by the Hawks led to another goal by Sherman to send the game into the second quarter tied at 3.

Again, the Majors started quickly in the quarter getting back-to-back goals from Jack Houtz and Hunter Stevison. Stevison would score again after Hunting knotted the game at 5. That goal would send the Majors into the half with a 6-5 lead.

The Hawks threatened to take control of the game in the third, scoring three straight to grab an 8-7 lead. A key timeout by coach Luke Beam settled the Majors down and responded with goals from Sherman and Stevison. Again, the game would be tied and went to the fourth at 9 all.

The Majors traded goals in the early goings of the fourth as both teams jockeyed for position. Adam Shubert scored with just over five minutes remaining in what ended up being the difference in the contest.

The Majors got solid goal play tonight from Scott Hood, who made 16 saves. The Majors move their record to 3-2 on the season. They open up SAA play as they head to Birmingham to take on the Birmingham Southern Panthers on Tuesday. Face off is set for 7pm.
