JACKSON- The Millsaps Majors struck 24 times including an 11 goal third-quarter outburst in a 24-10 thrashing of the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels.

It was Oglethorpe that got out of the gates quickly, striking twice within the game's first five minutes. The Majors collected themselves and scored three times in 64 seconds midway through the period to take a 3-2 lead. Oglethorpe would answer with an equalizer just seconds later and the teams would go to the second tied at 3.

After the teams traded goals over the first few minutes of the period, the Majors would turn the tide with just three minutes left in the half. Goals by Brandon Allison, Adam Shubert, Scott Budd and Hunter Stevison would give the Majors a much needed momentum boost and sent them into the half up 9-5.

The tide was definitely in the Majors favor to start the third as the Majors continued their onslaught, running off six straight goals to take a 15-5 lead. Hunter Stevison had a natural hat trick, actually scoring five straight goals as a part of the run. The Majors would continue the offensive charge, striking five more times in a three minute stretch and led it 20-9 heading into the fourth and final quarter.

The Majors took their foot off the gas pedal in the final frame. Scott Tafoya capped off the scoring with a late goal and the Majors won their fifth game of the season and second straight.

Five different Majors had multi-goal games led by Stevison's 10. Nine Majors scored a goal and 10 had at least one point. This was all in support of Chris Hood who made 17 saves against 27 shots on goal.

The Majors will wrap up their regular season at home on Sunday against the Berry Vikings. Face-off is set for 1pm.
