MT BERRY, GA- The Berry Vikings scored eight unanswered in the third quarter to get past the upstart Majors 17-4 in the SAA men's lacrosse quarterfinals.
Hunter Stevison scored midway through the first quarter to tie the game at one. Berry would get a late first period goal to take a 2-1 lead. Simon Sherman and Scott Budd each scored with the man advantage in the second as the Majors chipped away at the Viking lead. An early second quarter run made it 5-1 Vikings but the man-advantage goals made it 6-3, it would be 7-3 going into the half.
The Vikings would pull away in the second half. The Vikings out shot Millsaps 28-9 in the final two frames and scored 10 unanswered goals over the two quarters. Adam Shubert would net a late tally to make it 16-4. Berry would tack one on late to round out the scoring.
Berry advances on to the semifinals while the Majors season comes to an end at 5-9 overall. The five wins marks the highest total in program history.
