MAJORS CRUISE PAST GENTLEMEN
SHREVEPORT, LA- The Millsaps Majors went on the road and knocked off the Centenary Gentlemen 26-2 on Sunday afternoon.
The Majors controlled every facet of the game, scoring seven unanswered goals in each of the first two quarters. Ryan McKay opened the scoring three minutes in and Kobie Baus added another less than a minute later. Millsaps closed the quarter on a five goal barrage in the final five minutes of the quarter. Six different Majors scored in the first quarter, only Kyler Bibb scored twice in the opening 15.
Millsaps continued to share the wealth in the second quarter as six different Majors scored again in a seven-goal binge. McKay capped off his hat trick with two second quarter goals. The Majors peppered Centenary with 27 first half shots, compared to five for Centenary. Millsaps led 14-0 at the half.
The Majors cashed in on a pair of man advantages to start the third quarter as Hunter Stevison and Simon Sherman scored. Sherman led the Majors with five goals on the day. He added another later in the quarter as Millsaps led 18-1 after the third.
Stevison would score two of his four goals in the fourth quarter including one with the Majors a man down. Millsaps would score eight unanswered goals in the fourth before a late Centenary score rounded out the scoring.
The Majors dominated the scorecard, comitting only eight turnovers in the win. They also out shot the Gentlemen 51-13 including a 31-4 edge in shots on goal. Chris Hood got the start and the win, but faced just five shots, none on goal. Riley McLean played the second half and made a pair of saves.
Millsaps improved to 2-2 on the season and will take on Lyndon State on Thursday at home. Face off from Harper Davis Field is set for 4pm.
