JACKSON, MS- The Millsaps Majors got four goals and an assist from Simon Sherman but fell to the Birmingham Southern Panthers 14-6 in the first conference game for both teams. 

The Majors struck first as Sherman notched his first of four goals on the day. After an initial save, Panther goalie Conor Perine lost control of the ball, after a scrum, Sherman pushed the ball over the goal line through the skirmish.

The Panthers would answer with two straight, including one with the man advantage. Birmingham Southern would capitalize four times on six man advantages on the day. Sherman then struck twice more, including a short-handed tally to give the Majors a 3-2 lead after the first quarter. 

The Panthers then went on a tear over the next two quarters. After taking the lead on another man-up situation, the Panthers scored three times over the final five minutes of the second to lead 7-3 at the half. They kept the momentum into the second half and third quarter, scoring four more goals to lead 11-3, in total the difference on Saturday was the 9-0 run through the middle quarters. 

The Majors would get some momentum back in the fourth quarter as Ryan McKay scored off a Kyler Bibb feed. The Majors struck quickly off a Panther turnover. The Majors then ripped off two more goals as Hunter Stevison and Simon Sherman scored to make it 11-6. However, two more man-up goals for the Panthers halted the comeback and the Panthers picked up the win. 

The Majors sit at 4-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Majors will be back in action on Thursday at 1pm when the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan come to Harper Davis Field.
