MEMPHIS, TN- The Millsaps Majors scored two fourth quarter goals to rally past the Rhodes Lynx 7-6 on Saturday at Crain Field in Memphis.
Ryan McKay scored the equalizer on a feed from Hunter Stevison with 11 minutes remaining. Stevison then scored with six minutes remaining for the game-winner. Chris Hood made nine saves on 15 shots including a big stop in the fourth quarter to help preserve the win.
Rhodes would jump up 2-0 in the first before a McKay goal made it 2-1 after one quarter. Rhodes again struck for two in the second, only to see the Majors rally with three straight to knot the game at 4 at the half. Simon Sherman scored a pair and McKay scored with three seconds remaining to tie the game.
The Majors grabbed their first lead in the third quarter on a Scott Budd goal, but the Lynx rallied for two straight unanswered to take a 6-5 lead heading into the fourth and set up the Major heroics.
The Majors were outshot 35-30 and were 0-2 with the man advantage but only committed 16 turnovers and no penalties. The win improves the Majors to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in the SAA. They will swing through Georgia to wrap up the regular season next weekend. First up is Oglethorpe next Friday, opening face off is set for 7pm eastern.
