MAJORS FALL TO VIKINGS IN QF

ROME, GA- The Millsaps Majors lost their conference quarterfinal match with the third-seeded Berry Vikings 12-5 on Saturday at Ford Field in Rome, Georgia. 

The sixth-seeded Majors erased a two-goal deficit early on Saturday with goals from Simon Sherman and Scott Budd. Budd's tally came off a Ryan McKay feed and beat the buzzer, crossing the goal line with just a single second left in the first quarter to tie the game at two. 

Berry turned up the offensive firepower in the second, scoring three straight goals in the first half of the second quarter. Sherman broke the string with his second on the day but Berry answered with two more before the half and led 7-3 after two quarters. 

The Vikings made it 9-3 early in the third with two goals inside the first four minutes. It would stay that way until late in the quarter when Ryan McKay netted an unassisted goal to make it 9-4 after three. 

Berry put the game out of reach with three goals in the fourth, including two just 14 seconds apart late in the quarter. Hunter Stevison scored his 41st goal of the season to round out the scoring. 

Chris Hood made nine saves against 21 shots on Saturday for the Majors who were outshot 45-21 including 21-13 in shots on goal. 

The Majors season ends with a school record six wins against 11 defeats.
