Eagles Too Strong for Majors

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Millsaps Majors Men's Soccer Team returned to the pitch on Saturday afternoon as they took on the Emory Eagles in non-conference play.

It was a struggle all day for the Majors (1-5-1) as they could not recover from a 2-0 halftime deficit as Emory pulled away in the second half to win 4-0.

The Eagles (4-4-1) put the first two scores on the board in the 13th and 27th minute to gain the advantage and continued to hold possession in the Majors territory. Senior goalkeeper Stephen Andrieu and the defense fought valiantly as they kept the score 2-0 thanks to some tough defense and key saves from Andrieu.

However, Emory put the game out of reach with goals in the 60th and 72nd minute to pull away for the win. The Majors attacked strong offensively in the second half, sending off six shots, but could not find a goal on the afternoon.

Freshman Tyler Cook led the offensive attack with two shot while Andrieu picked up two saves on teh day.

The Majors are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Piedmont to take on the Piedmont Lions. First kick is at 3 p.m.
