Majors Score Big Road Win Over Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Millsaps Majors Men's Soccer returned to action on Sunday afternoon as they took on the Piedmont Lions in their final tune up match before conference play. The Majors were aggressive on offense and were able to get two goals on the afternoon to knock off the Lions on the road, 2-1.

The Majors came out strong as they got shots from freshman Lukas Elmhammar, sophomore Chucky Hayden, and sophomore Chaz Ainsworth in the first 15 minutes to set the tone.

Millsaps (2-5-1) came through in the 24th minutes when Elmhammar found Ainsworth who put away his first career goal to give the Majors a 1-0 lead.

Piedmont (4-3-1) did answer 12 minutes later as they evened the score at one thanks to a goal from Justin Whittaker off a penalty kick. The Majors got a couple of corner kicks late in the half, but could not answer as the teams went into the half even at one.

The Majors continued to play aggressively offensively as they continued to attack the goal and play excellent defense thanks to the great play of seniors Taylor Harrison and Alex Szabo, junior James Klugh, and sophomore Christopher Lawrence

Millsaps came through with the game winner in the 74th minute as Hayden found the back of the net on a penalty kick to put the Majors up for good 2-1 thanks to great defense and senior goalkeeper Stephen Andrieu, who picked up six saves.
