JACKSON- The Millsaps Majors women's lacrosse team scored early and often in a 23-7 win over the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels to advance to next weekend's SAA semis.

The Majors scored twice in the first minute of the contest to set the tone as Alex Morphew and Katie Iskra each lit the lamp for the Majors. Millsaps ripped off a pair of three goal runs to keep the Petrels at bay. Whitney Smith scored with just 18 seconds left to make in an 11-5 ball game going into the half.

Millsaps would turn on the afterburners in the second half. Goals by JB Page, Iskra and Theresa Woehnker would make it 14-6 and were part of a nine-goal run that put the game into a running clock. The Majors would tack on a few more as Margaret Eggers and Sarah Hawthorne each scored to close out the game and scoring at 23-7.

The Majors now at 8-5 on the year and 4-2 in SAA play, travel to Sewanee for the SAA semifinals and finals. Centre awaits the Majors on Saturday, the Colonels got by Millsaps 11-10 in Danville earlier this year. A game time has not yet been set.
