SEWANEE- The Millsaps Majors women's lacrosse team fell in the SAA semifinal to Centre College 13-6 on Saturday afternoon in Sewanee, Tennessee.
The Majors fell behind 5-0 in the first half as Centre came out quickly. Kelsey Ingraham fed Whitney Smith midway through the first half to get the Majors on the board. Alex Morphew would add another tally on a free position shot as the Majors began to carve into the Centre lead. However, the Colonels would match the Majors' scores with two of their own and took an 8-2 lead into the half.
Sarah Hawthorne scored with the man-advantage to make it 9-3 as the teams traded goals to start the second half. Centre would answer with three straight goals to go up 12-3. JB Page would score two goals late and Morephew would add her second of the game to finish out the scoring.
Madelyn Walker made 17 saves as she played brilliantly in net, albeit in a losing effort. The Majors end their season at 8-6 overall, the winningest season in school history.
