JACKSON- The Eagles of Meridian Community College outlasted the Millsaps Majors women's tennis team 5-4 at the Coach Montgomery Courts in Jackson on Wednesday. 

The Eagles, who came in ranked #19 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, took four singles matches to steal a win from Millsaps. 

The Majors' top doubles pair of Deena Li Kam Wa and Callie Creekmore rolled 8-2 and the team of Laura Kebert and Bianca Suarez won a tough 8-6 match. Millsaps took a 2-1 lead heading into singles. 

Li Kam Wa dropped her first set of the year, but remained undefeated with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over Ivanna Echezuria on court one. Creekmore made quick work of her opponent on court two winning 6-1, 6-2. After the Eagles rallied to tie the match at four, Laura Kebert dropped a tough three set match and the Eagles took the match. 

The Majors, now at 9-7 on the year will have two matches this weekend to close out the regular season. The Majors travel to Centenary in Louisiana for a make-up match from February on Saturday. The team then travels to Meridian Community College for a neutral site match against the Huntingdon Hawks on Sunday. 

The SAA tournament will be next weekend in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
