MURFREESBORO, TN- The Millsaps Majors fell to the nationally ranked Sewanee Tigers 9-0 in the Southern Athletic Association semi-finals.
The Majors made the 19th ranked Tigers work for every point on Saturday but were on the wrong end of several close matches.
Deena Li Kam Wa and Callie Creekmore fell at number one doubles 8-4 in a hotly contested match. Same could be said for the result on court two that saw Lauren Pratt and Laura Kebert falling 8-6. The Tigers owned a 3-0 lead heading into the six singles matches.
In singles, the undefeated run for Deena Li Kam Wa came to an end to the number four ranked player in the Atlantic South, Bronte Goodhue. The junior won the first set 6-2 before falling 4-6 in the second. With the match already decided, the third set was determined via the 10-point tiebreaker. Goodhue won the race to 10, 10-6 to prevail in the match. Li Kam Wa came into the match ranked fifth in the Atlantic South and looks to punch a ticket to the NCAAs on May 5th.
The Majors battled on the other five courts, but to no avail. According to the SAA bracket, no third-place match will be played tomorrow, meaning the Majors' season comes to an end at 13-6 overall.
