INDIANAPOLIS- Millsaps Majors  women's tennis player Deena Li Kam Wa has been selected as one of 32 players to compete in the 2014 NCAA D-III Championships hosted by the Claremont-Mudd Scripps Colleges.

"Deena has worked extremely hard over the last three years," coach Jason Box said. "She deserves to be recognized as one of the top players in the country."

The junior went 17-1 this regular season for the Majors and rose to a number five ranking in the Atlantic South region in 2014. Her selection speaks to her stellar record and strength of schedule. In the 2014 season, Li Kam Wa earned victories over two players also selected to nationals, Bronte Goodhue of Sewanee and Michelle Satterfield of Emory who will compete in the doubles' portion.

"I am confident  she will perform well in the tournament and am excited what this means for the Millsaps' Tennis program," Box added. "Her teammates over the last three years have been very supportive and helped her reach this next step in her career."

Over her three seasons, Li Kam Wa has a 61-6 record.

With her selection, Li Kam Wa becomes the first woman since Paige Carpenter-Pratt in 1989 to make the national championships.

The 32-player tournament will begin on May 22nd in Claremont, California, about 30 miles east of Los Angeles.
