BIRMINGHAM-The Millsaps Majors avenged a five-set loss to Birmingham Southern and picked up their first conference win in a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-17, 25-19) of the Panthers on Tuesday.

Caroline McKey had 10 kills to lead a balanced attack for the Majors. Lexus Andrews, Olivia Kleyer, Alex Morphew and Taylor Ziegler all had five kills. Ziegler also had a double-double with 10 assists and 12 digs. McKey added a team-high 17 digs while Andrew had 11 to go along with four blocks.

Millsaps erased a 16-13 BSC lead in the first to grab a 22-20 advantage and win 25-22 in the first set. The Majors got service streaks from Mary Wilson and Christina Tilton to spark the comeback.

The Majors steadily built a lead in the second set, drawing a 10-7 advantage out to 22-14 en route to the 25-17 win. The Majors' defense is what helped build the lead, forcing 11 of the Panthers' 19 errors in the set.

After building the 2-0 set lead, the Majors rode a five-point service streak from McKey to lead 15-10. Casey Brown and Tilton then each ran off three-point service runs to help the Majors gain match point at 24-17. A BSC serve led to a McKey kill and the Majors moved to 1-0 in conference play.

Millsaps sits at 8-6 overall and 1-0 in the SAA. They welcome in Hendrix on Saturday for a 5pm first serve and Rhodes on Sunday for a 1pm serve.
