Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – The Millsaps College Football team fall, 42-14 in their first conference game against Hendrix College on Saturday, Sept. 24.
The Majors offense worked hard to keep up with the Warriors, only picking up one less first down than Hendrix and amassing more rushing yards than them. However, the Warriors dominated through the air with four passing touchdowns and 349 yards.
The Majors offense was led by Taz Watson who led the Majors rushing attack with 103 yards. Andrew Warren chipped in 72 yards as well in route to the Majors amassing 207 yards on the ground. Beau Wells led the Majors in receiving with four receptions for 28 yards and a catch for a two point conversion with Watson behind him recording three receptions for 36 yards. Chance Clowers threw for 163 yards
On the defensive side of the ball, Jared Bullock led in tackles with 6.5 total tackles and five assists. He also was responsible for two tackles for loss. Malcolm Ben followed close behind with six solo tackles.
Hendrix dominated the first half of the game with big gains in the both the passing and the rushing game, putting up 21 points to the Majors six. Andrew Warren scored the first touchdown for Millsaps with 4:02 left in the first half on a big 45 yard rush.
In the second half of the game, Hendrix scored the first 21 points of the half, sealing the win early but being down 42-6 in the fourth quarter did not prevent the Majors from fighting through. With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Ty Proctor scored the Majors final touchdown on a 25 yard run and Chance Clowers completed a pass to Beau Wells for the two-point conversion. The Majors then went on to recover a tough onside kick though they fell short of converting their onside recovery into more points.
The Majors will have a 2 week break but will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Danville, KY vs Centre College. at 1 p.m. Millsaps will be away at Centre in their second conference game of the year.
