JACKSON, Miss. – Today Millsaps College Director of Athletics
Donald Brooks announced that
Caroline DeLoach has been hired as the next head coach for the softball program.
DeLoach, formerly Caroline Thompson, was a four-year standout for the Majors from 2011-2014. She earned all-conference honors every single year at Millsaps, including a First-Team All-SAA selection her senior season after posting a .410 batting average and leading the Majors with 31 runs scored and 14 stolen bases.
She graduated in May of 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, and in July of 2015 received her Master of Business of Administration also from Millsaps College.
After her playing career DeLoach was an assistant coach for the Majors from 2015-2017. Most previously she served as the head softball and women's track coach at Central Hinds Academy in Raymond, Mississippi.
"I would like thank Donnie Brooks and Dr. Pearigen for the wonderful opportunity to return to my alma mater," said DeLoach. "I am thrilled to be back home at such a great institution," she continued. "We will work to build winners in the classroom, in life, and on the field. I am excited to be back in purple!"
DeLoach takes over a program that is just one year removed from playing for the Southern Athletic Association championship in 2017. Last season the Majors posted a 19-19 record which included a pair of wins at the postseason SAA Tournament. After graduating just three seniors, Millsaps returns the bulk of their roster for the 2019 season, including
MK Bozeman,
Jordan Lipari,
Lindsey Osbon and
Leslie Norris who all earned post-season awards from the SAA.
"We are excited to welcome Caroline back to lead our softball program," Brooks said. "Her passion for Millsaps College and her desire to build a championship program both on and off the field will be valuable in taking Majors softball to the next level," he finished.
