MARYVILLE, Tenn. - The first annual American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove Award Winners for the South Region were released this afternoon with junior third baseman Hunter Abrams from Columbus and senior outfielder John Pacillo from Baton Rouge, La., highlighting this year's list which includes one player at each position for their performance on defense.
Only one of five Majors to start and play in every game, Abrams carried a .957 fielding percentage in 141 chances, recorded 106 assists and 29 putouts and contributed to six double plays against only six errors.
Pacillo had perhaps his best season in a Millsaps uniform offensively and defensively, joining Abrams as one of five Majors to start and play in every game while recording 111 putouts, two assists and only one error in 114 chances (.991 fielding percentage).
Both Abrams and Pacillo are eligible for consideration for the ABCA/Rawlings National Gold Glove Awards which will be announced the first week of June.
