SEWANEE, Ga. – After tossing 15.1 innings in two starts during the week and posting a 2-0 record with a perfect 0.00 ERA, junior left-hander Tait Hendrix of Millsaps College has been named the SCAC Co-Pitcher of the Week along with Rhodes' Chris Catalanotto.
Hendrix allowed just one run (unearned) and only five hits in 50 plate appearances, striking out 14 batters against six walks and holding them to a .100 batting average.
In an 8-1 win over Mississippi College in the Maloney Trophy Series, Hendrix tossed a career-high 6.1 innings of scoreless, three-hit ball, followed by 9.0 innings of two-hit ball in a 3-1 win against the 'Roos on Sunday while striking out seven.
At the end of the week, Hendrix was named an Honorable Mention pitcher by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
