SEWANEE, Ga. – Travis Bogue, a 6-5, 205-pound left-hander from Madison, Miss., has been selected the SCAC Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 14 through Sunday, April 20, giving the senior his first career weekly award.
Bogue carried the Majors to a pair of wins over Rhodes College in the SCAC Divisional Playoffs this past weekend, throwing in relief in Games 2 and 3 to post a 1-0 record along with his first career save. The senior carried a 1.29 ERA in seven total innings of work and surrendered just two walks while striking out five.
In Saturday's come-from-behind win, Bogue tossed the final four innings while striking out three and giving up just two hits to earn his career-best eighth win of the year in relief of Aaron Williams.
In Sunday's series-clinching win, Bogue entered to start the seventh and gave up only four hits and one run as he forced the Lynx into a pair of double play balls in the eighth and ninth to get out of any kind of a jam and allow Millsaps to win the best-of-3 series, 2-1. He retired 11 of the 12 batters he faced.
Millsaps will entertain Trinity University in the opening game of the SCAC Tournament on Friday, April 25, in Danville, Ky. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
Two days later, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) named Bogue as an Honorable Mention pitcher, giving Millsaps just its second selection in the last two years.
