APPLETON, Wisc. – Just as they did a year ago, the postseason honors continue to pour in again for outfielder Hunter Owen, as the junior from Jackson was named to the D3baseball.com All-America Third Team for a second-straight season on Wednesday.
A D3baseball.com Preseason All-American, Owen has already been named SCAC Player of the Year (second-straight season), SCAC All-Tournament Team, All-SCAC First Team and ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region First Team.
Owen's 2008 numbers complemented a breakout sophomore campaign where he grabbed seven postseason accolades, batting .388 and slugging a league-best .756. He led the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in home runs (16, single-season school record), runs scored (61), total bases (121), walks (45) and on-base percentage (.546) and finished in the Top 4 in the league in RBIs (50, fourth) and stolen bases (23-26, third).
Owen will enter the 2009 season with several chances to set new career school-records in home runs, RBIs, total bases, at-bats, games played, walks and stolen bases.
