APPLETON, Wisc. – The Division III ABCA/Rawlings All-American Team was released at the World Series Banquet in Appleton, Wisc., on Thursday night and junior outfielder Hunter Owen was named a Second Team All-American – his sixth postseason honor.
The end of the year award is his second-straight from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), as he was named a First Team All-American a season ago.
Owen, a junior outfielder from Jackson, hit .388 this season (eighth in the SCAC) and slugged a league-best .756. He led the SCAC in home runs (16 – a single-season school record and the third highest single-season total in league history), runs scored (61), total bases (121), walks (45) and on-base percentage (.546) and finished in the top four in the league in runs batted in (50 – tied for fourth) and stolen bases (23 – third).
He will be one of nine returning seniors on a very talented squad in 2009.
