STERLING, Va. – Millsaps senior outfielder and MLB prospect Hunter Owen was selected to the 2009 D3baseball.com Preseason All-American first team for the second consecutive season on Wednesday.

A two-time D3baseball.com All-American and back-to-back SCAC Offensive Player of the Year nod, the Jackson native led the Majors by batting at a .388 clip and hitting a team and Millsaps single-season high 16 home runs, all while driving in 50 runs in 2008.

Since 2007, Owen has played in 91 games while hitting .396 with 27 home runs, 120 RBI and 118 runs scored. 

Owen and the rest of his Majors teammates open up the 2009 season on Friday, Feb. when they host LaGrange (Ga.) in the second annual Wilson/DeMarini Classic at Twenty Field.
