Cepnio Hired as First Women's Lacrosse Coach

JACKSON -- Millsaps College athletic director Tim Wise announced today the hiring of Tracy Cepnio, who will become the Majors' first head women's lacrosse coach in school history. Cepnio will officially assume her new post on August 3.

Millsaps will begin competition in the spring of 2011 for both men and women.

Cepnio joins Millsaps from Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania where she spent two seasons as the assistant women's lacrosse coach and also served as the assistant coach for the Presidents' field hockey team.

Prior to W&J, Cepnio was a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter on defense for the Battling Bishops' women's lacrosse team at Ohio Wesleyan. During her career, she helped OWU claim the North Coast Athletic Conference title and earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2005 and also NCAC Regular Season Championship in 2007. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in zoology in May 2007.

Just 24 years old, Cepnio's coaching experience spans back to 2004 where she was involved in the Father Ryan HS Lacrosse Camp. She also has experience coaching in the Tennessee Women's Lacrosse Summer League and assisted in coaching and recruiting for Intrepid Lacrosse in Pittsburgh, Pa.
