MILLINGTON, Tenn. – Eight different players from the Millsaps College baseball team were recognized by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with All-SCAC honors for the 2010 season.
The Majors finished their season at the SCAC Tournament on Saturday with an 11-1 loss to Rhodes College to end the season with a 25-15 overall record after a second place finish in the SCAC West Division.
\#Tyler Berry\#, the lone Millsaps senior to earn the award, finished his best season for the Majors leading the team in home runs (10), doubles (13), RBIs (54), total bases (96) and fielding percentage (.983).
Last season's SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year, junior \#Will Hawkins\# received All-SCAC honors for the third time in his career with a .348 batting average and a team-high 27 walks.
The Majors had a pair of outfielders earn All-SCAC honors as well in sophomore \#Jules Roussel\# and junior \#Josh Ordeneaux\#.
Roussel led the team with a .395 batting average, .705 slugging percentage and 46 runs scored while Ordeneaux finished off a solid year with a team-high 52 hits for a .374 batting average.
Roussel also finished the regular season ranking second in all of Division III being hit-by-pitch 21 times in a category which the Majors lead the nation.
Junior \#Jake Mills\# was named All-SCAC as a designated hitter after batting .391 in his first season with Millsaps.
A pair of junior pitchers also received All-SCAC recognition for the second time in their careers as \#Aaron Williams\# led the team with a perfect 6-0 record in the regular season and a 3.29 ERA while \#Boomer Hudson\# recorded a team-high four saves and finished with a 5-3 record.
Centerfielder \#Jeremy Aliff\# earned All-SCAC Honorable Mention for 2010 while leading the team with three triples and stealing a conference-leading 21 bases in the regular season.
The seven Millsaps players named All-SCAC are the most amongst all SCAC schools and the Majors have now had 41 players earn either First Team All-SCAC or Honorable Mention honors in the past five years.
The streak of five consecutive Millsaps players being named Player-of-the-Year comes to an end as Evan Jones of Trinity University was named SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year for 2010.
