ATLANTA, GA- The Millsaps Majors placed three players on the Southern Athletic Association's first-team all-conference as voted on by the conference coaches.
Infielders Logan Patterson, Keith Shumaker and Andrew Rafferty were named to the all-conference first team. The Majors named seven to the three total All-SAA teams as Blake Littlejohn was named to the SAA second team while Isaac Glenn, James Perkins and Smokey Ethridge were named to the honorable mention squad.
Patterson burst onto the scene as freshman, winning the second base job and hitting .315 on the season, .379 in conference play. In 40 games, Patterson had 35 hits, scored 19 runs and was 9-10 in stolen bases. He also played a solid second base, posting a .950 fielding percentage on the season and was a part of 16 double plays turned.
Shumaker led the Majors in several offensive categories on the season including hits (60) runs scored (33) runs batted in (31) and extra base hits (16). His 60 hits are third in the SAA, and his .351 batting average is ninth. He also was named to the second team All-SAA as a pitcher. Shumaker went 6-1 on the season with a 2.82 earned run average. His six wins were sixth in the SAA and tops on the Majors this season.
Rafferty led the Majors with a .373 batting average, a mark that was third in the conference. His 50 hits were second to Shumaker on the team and was 11th overall in the SAA. The senior also drove in 17 runs and scored 17 times for Millsaps on the season.
Littlejohn led the SAA in runners caught stealing, nabbing 25 percent of the runners stealing. His 13 runners caught easily led the conference and were four more than the next catcher.
Isaac Glenn was third on the team with 46 hits and a .324 batting average. Glenn got on base at a .446 clip, also top-10 in the SAA. His 14 extra base hits were also second on the Majors.
Smokey Ethridge had a solid season for the Majors, his first with the club. The junior went 5-6 on the season with three complete games and a 3.09 earned run average. Ethridge led the Majors with 81 and 2/3 innings pitched and walked just 15 batters on the season, pitching to a sterling 1.24 WHIP.
James Perkins was a jack-of-all-trades pitcher for Millsaps his freshman year. Perkins appeared in 14 games, including one start where he went 2-0 with two saves. Perkins over 39 and 1/3 innings held a 2.52 earned run average. He and Nathan Harrell combined to no-hit Illinois Wesleyan where Perkins went the final five innings in the win.
