Men's Lacrosse Closes out Texas Road Trip with 13-3 Win

Irving, TX – The Millsaps Men's Lacrosse Team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 13-3 victory over Dallas earlier today.

Today's convincing win improves Millsaps over .500 on the year, as the Majors go 1-1 in the Lone Start State for the first road trip of the season.  Seven different Majors scored en route to the 13-3 victory.  Simon Sherman led the way with four goals, including the first score of the day just two minutes into the game.  Goalie Riley McLean also totaled 13 saves and moves to 3-2 on the year as well.

The Majors started fast with four unanswered goals via Simon Sherman, Garrett Perez and Sam Snyder.  The quick start gave Millsaps a 4-0, first quarter lead.

From there, the Majors continued to expand on the early lead with another goal from Simon Sherman.  With the hat trick by Sherman and five goals scored in the first 20 minutes of play, the Majors never looked back en route to their largest win of the season.

Dallas would add two goals in the second and one in the fourth, but the Majors closed out the game with a five-goal third period.  In addition to Sherman's four goals, Jackson Barrett, Garrett Perez and Kyler Bibb all totaled two each.  Sam Snyder, Parks Douglass and Jack Houtz all scored as well.

For shot totals, Millsaps recorded 60 total shots – 30 on goal.  The Majors were successful on 20-26 clears and totaled 38 ground balls while going 2-8 on extra man opportunities.

Senior Jack Houtz again led in ground balls with six while Nico Baker totaled five.  Houtz also led in caused turnovers with two while Samuel Patton led in faceoff wins by going 8-16 for the contest.

Now at 3-2, the Majors will look to continue the positive momentum quickly, as they return home for another non-conference game tomorrow.  Millsaps Men's Lacrosse will face Hanover tomorrow, Feb. 29th.  Opening faceoff against the Panthers is set for 7:00 pm from Harper Davis Field.
