FLOWOOD, Miss.. -- On Friday, the Millsaps College men's and women's swimming team hosted the first competitive meet in school history.
The Majors welcomed Centenary College to the University Wellness Center-Lakeland for a dual-meet.
The meet, which consisted of 26 total events, saw Millsaps post several strong individual finishes, but Centenary captured a pair of wins. The women's final score was 94-70, while the men fell by a total of 61-47.
Notable Finishes
On the women's side,
Olivia Baldwin picked up three huge wins on the afternoon. She started it off with times of 1:03.27 in the 100-yard butterfly and a 58.57 in the 100-yard freestyle. In the freestyle race Baldwin finished nearly a second ahead of the next closest swimmer. Later on the in the meet Baldwin scored a win in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:04.43.
On the men's side freshman
Cooper Clevenger brought home a second-place finish, and was more than two seconds ahead of the third-place finisher, with a time of 1:05.50 in the 100-yard butterfly. Meanwhile,
Alden Macomber notched a second-place finish with his time of 1:06.42 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
To start off the meet, the 200-yard medley relay team of Baldwin, Clevenger, Macomber and
Ronny DeFelicibus finished in second-place, and nearly three seconds ahead of the third-place team.
What's Next?
On November 2 the Majors will travel to Arkansas for the 52nd Annual Hendrix Classic. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
