NEW ORLEANS – A fantastic season on the trails extended into the classroom for the Millsaps women's cross country program as the team was named an All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the second year in a row on Thursday.
The program continued it's brilliant work in the classroom by obtaining an overall 3.45 team GPA with 86 percent of the squad reaching the 3.0-GPA mark. The top four academic performers included juniors
Caroline Eschete and
Abby Henry, who both earned a 3.92 GPA. Classmates
Fran Edwards (3.83 GPA) and
Sarah Strickland (3.59 GPA) rounded out the quartet following the 2023 season.
Carleton College was named the Women's Scholar Team of the Year for the 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country season. The Knights, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.52, won the team title at the 2023 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
