Sophomore (2012/13): Competed in 13 rounds for the Majors. Finished the year with an average score of 81.29. Finished T-7 at Jekyll Island Collegiate (79, 76, 77). Led the team in fairways hit (68.7%).
Freshman (2010/11): Competed in all eight events for the Majors as a true freshman. Along with Lewis Peters, Barnes has aided Millsaps Freshmen class to be the #25 ranked freshmen class in NCAA Div III golf (golfstat.com). His best finish came at the 2011 Lake Caroline Collegiate, where Barnes posted rounds of 79, 77 and a 14th place finish. Recorded a scoring average of 79.00 for eight rounds.
Coach’s Notes: “Garrett is a very strong competitor who is constantly working on improving his game. He is a big guy who hits it a long way. Garrett has a ton of competitive tournament experience that has aided him to have such success early in his college career. He is always pushing himself to improve at all aspects of his college experience. We expect to see a lot of success from Garrett during his college career.”
