Why Millsaps: Gitau chose to attend Millsaps College because it offered him the opportunity to continue his education while also pursuing a passion for golf. As a student-athlete, being able to compete at the collegiate level was very important to him, and Millsaps gave Gitau the opportunity to do that while receiving a strong liberal arts education. He also liked the close-knit community and the opportunity to build relationships with my professors, teammates, and other students.
Attending Millsaps means more to him than simply earning a degree. It has given him the opportunity to grow as a person, become more independent, and experience new challenges. Moving away from home and starting college has pushed Gitau outside of my comfort zone and helped him become more responsible. Through academics, golf, his internship experiences, and campus involvement, Millsaps has helped him develop both personally and professionally.
He also chose Millsaps because he wanted a college experience where he could be involved in different areas and continue discovering what he wanted to do in the future. Gitau is still exploring his long-term career goals, but Millsaps has given him the freedom to learn about different interests and develop skills that will be valuable regardless of the career that he will eventually pursue. To Gitau, attending Millsaps means having the opportunity to grow, challenge himself, build meaningful relationships, and continue working toward becoming the person that he wants to be.
