Sophomore (2012/13): Competed in the Millsaps Collegiate for his team during the fall semester. Claimed his first collegiate victory at the Millsaps Collegiate with scores of 72, 69. That victory vaulted him up the national rankings to number #1 in the country individually. His victory at the Millsaps Collegiate was the first individual win by any Major since 1993. Along with Ryan Henry, Peters became the first Major to post a sub 70 score in over twenty years. Finished the year with a 77.57 sophmore average for 14 rounds. Finished 8th at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate (84, 73)...Finished 2nd at the Mirimichi Invitational (81, 72)...Finished T-17 at the SAA Championships (76, 79). Led the team in multiple categories in 2012-13: Par-4 scoring (4.35), Par-5 Scoring (5.05), Eagles Made (4), Percentage of sub-par holes (12.3%), Putts per round (30.71), Most sub-par holes in one round (5), and Greens in regulation (54.8%). Ranked second on the team in scoring average (77.57).
Freshman (2010/11): Has quickly made a name for himself at Millsaps. Competed in all eight events for the Majors as a true freshman. Leads the team in multiple categories; scoring average: 75.12, top 15 finishes: 2, and top 5 finishes: 1. His lowest round came at the 2012 West Region Invitational where Peters shot 71 to be the first round leader of the event. His best finishes came at the 2011 Lake Caroline Collegiate (75, 73) and 2012 West Region Invitational (71, 74, 79) to finish 3rd and make the All Tournament Team at both events. Along with Garrett Barnes, Peters has aided Millsaps Freshmen class to be the #25 ranked freshmen class in NCAA Div III golf (golfstat.com). Ended the Fall semester ranked #101 individually in NCAA Div III Golfstat standings. Has finished in the top 25 in 3 of 4 events he has competed in.
Coach’s Notes: “Peters is a strong competitor. He has the work ethic and mind set of an upperclassman. I have been very impressed with his abilities and the mind set he has with everything he does. He is an excellent student with great grades. In the coming years, we will turn to Lewis for leadership and rely on his talents to post some good numbers for our team. Everything about Lewis spells SUCCESS.”
