Named the assistant track and field coach in 2015, Mike Huseth works primarily with the Majors’ sprinters and jumpers.
In 2018, Millsaps’ women's high jumpers were ranked 10th nationally by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in the event group category for NCAA Division III.
Prior to Millsaps, Huseth coached high jumpers in the Jackson area at Jackson Academy, Jackson Prep, and with current Millsaps head coach Andy Till at Saint Andrew's Episcopal School. During his 10 years at the high school level, he coached nine state champions, seven second-place finishers and three third-place finishers.
In 2014, he coached the third-place finisher in the high jump at the National Junior College Athletic Association Outdoor Championships.
At the NCAA level, Huseth coached two conference high jump champions at Rhodes College from 1987-90.
A graduate of Southern Methodist University with a degree in economics, Huseth broke the SMU high jump record in 1978. He went on to earn a masters in public administration from the University of Memphis and a masters in biblical studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi.
He also has a Level 2 Specialist Certification for jumps, sprints/hurdles and relays in the USTFCCCA and a Level 1 Certification in the US Track & Field Association (USTFA).
