Chris Lawrence

Chris Lawrence was named the Millsaps College Director of Sports Information in Jan. 2021. Currently with 10 years of experience in his fourth season in Jackson, Lawrence is the longest tenured SID among the Southern Athletic Association main eight affiliate members.

A product of Anchorage, Alaska, Lawrence oversaw the development and provided input into the updated athletics website, gomajors.com. He also has implemented technological improvements and changes to the Millsaps Sports Network.

He helped expand the Millsaps College Sports Information Department by advocating for an assistant position and helped create for-credit internships with the Millsaps College Center for Career Education.

Lawrence is responsible for all parts of the department, including but not limited to, website maintenance, social media, video productions, graphic design, budgeting, staffing and more.

His work has appeared in the Millsaps Magazine and he worked to create The Majority Rules Podcast, highlighting Millsaps coaches and student-athletes.

Lawrence meets weekly with the Millsaps College Office of Marketing and Communications as well as the Else School of Management to better connect and integrate the three campus organizations together. He is also currently on the SAA Brand Committee which is working to rebrand the conference and its logos.

The SID earned his Intercollegiate Athletic Administration Graduate Certificate from the University of Mississippi in the Fall of 2022. He also garnered his M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications in 2020 while at Ole Miss as well as his B.A. in Journalism & Public Communications from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2017.

Prior to Millsaps, Lawrence spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant with Ole Miss Athletics and four seasons as the Media Relations Intern with University of Alaska Anchorage Athletics. He also had much of his work published in the Alaska Dispatch News as an ADN intern.

While at Ole Miss and UAA, he was the Sports Information Director for the rifle, cross country and track and field programs.

Lawrence received the Dr. Jim Montgomery Service Award as voted on by Millsaps College faculty and students. He also is an American Volleyball Coaches Association Regional Grant Burger Media Award winner.

Lawrence currently resides in Pearl, Miss.
