Chuck Brown was named the Millsaps College Head Men’s and Women's Tennis Coach on June 15, 2026. Brown has been prolific and successful throughout his collegiate coaching career, totaling 304 career wins since 2000.
Brown was the men’s and women’s tennis head coach at Brescia University last season. There he led the Bearcats women’s team to a winning record after the squad didn’t win a single match the prior three seasons. Both NAIA teams made the conference tournament, with the women reaching the postseason for the first time in 10 years.
He also spent the 2022-23 season as the head coach at Kentucky Wesleyan College, an NCAA Division II program.
Brown is no stranger to the Mississippi coaching ranks as well. In 2018, he coached Pillow Academy in Greenwood to both Boys and Girls Tennis State crowns. There he was also the Director of Tennis at the Greenwood Country Club and the Tennis Director at Twin Rivers Recreation.

Prior to his time at Brescia, Kentucky Wesleyan, and in Greenwood, Brown led the tennis programs at Transylvania University from 2000 to 2016.
His tenure with the Pioneers was terrific. He earned nine straight men’s tennis Heartland Conference Coach of the Year honors (2003-11), and three consecutive HCAC Coach of the Year accolades on the women’s side (2009-11). The Pioneers won nine consecutive HCAC Championships during that same 2003-11 span, while the women won in 2009 and 2011.
Add to that, he was named the 2006 and 2007 USPTA Southern Division Coach of the Year as well as the 2006 and 2009 USTA Kentucky Coach of the Year.
He coached multiple conference MVPs, Freshmen of the Year, and All-Conference selections at Transy. The men’s team also won an impressive 68 straight conference matches (2003-11).

“Throughout his career, he has built winning programs, developed student-athletes both on and off the court, and earned the respect of coaches across the region. We are excited to welcome Chuck to Millsaps and look forward to the impact he will have on our tennis programs and campus community."
Academic success was evident throughout as both programs earned team GPA awards, while 54 scholars made Heartland Academic All-Conference with at least a 3.50 GPA.
During his early time at Transylvania, Brown was a tennis staff member at the University of Kentucky from 2001 to 2005. There he helped the women’s team win its first and only SEC Regular Season title in the 2004-05 season.
Other titles Brown has held include USPTA Elite Tennis Professional in Little Rock (2024-25), Director of Tennis at Top Seed Tennis Club in Lexington (2023-24), and Head Tennis Pro at Centre Court in Owensboro (2018-23).
Brown attended Ferris State University pursuing Professional Tennis Management where he earned both his USPTA and USRSA Certifications in 1998. He also competed as a student-athlete at Meridian Community College, earning his Associate Degree in Art in 1995.
He has been a USTA member since 1994, has held several leadership positions throughout his coaching career, spoken at coaching symposiums, and holds many additional certifications.
While at MCC, he was the coach’s assistant, the team captain, and earned the James Cameron Memorial Award for Most Outstanding Athlete / Team MVP.
