BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Millsaps Majors Women's Golf Team finished up the final round of the BSC Shootout on Monday afternoon as the young team continued to improve.
Freshman Lauren Durbin shot a career low in her young career including a school record as a first year player with a 75 on day two to finish tied for 36 with a combined score of 155.
"Durbin played great today and she still has so much more to improve on with her short game," says Head Coach Eddie Brescher. "Thats our main focus now, but once we get her short game consistent, we are going to see some great stuff from her."
Following Durbin was sophomore Lauren Barattini with a score of 97 and freshman Whitney Smith with a score of 101, four strokes below her first round score. Freshman Ashley Cabecerias played extremely well, shooting a 108, six strokes below her first round score. Freshman Emma Lee Mikhalek rounded Millsaps out with a 115.
"Hats off to our girls for showing huge improvements in such a short time," added Brescher. "Our team score is constantly improving and as we continue to improve our team will see better and better results."
The Majors head back to Tunica as they compete in the Rhodes Collegiate Women's Classic next weekend for their final match of the fall.
