Box Score Shreveport, LA – The Millsaps Men's Basketball Team fell to Austin College in the final day of the SCAC/SAA Challenge earlier tonight.
 
With the score tied 60-60 in the final 40 seconds, Austin College scored a go ahead jumper to take the lead.  With 37 seconds remaining, the Roos made their free throws to eventually win 66-63.  The Majors bench outscored Austin College 18-2 while the Roos led in points in the paint (24-20) and second chance points (21-15).
 
Tonight's loss drops the Majors to 0-4 on the young season while the Roos continue the year unbeaten by improving to 4-0.  Austin College shot 32 percent from the field (18-55) while Millsaps shot 37 percent (22-59). 
 
The Majors led 20-6 midway through the first half.  Austin College, however, rallied to tie the game by going on a 18-4 run.  With the Majors holding a three point – halftime lead, the game turned into a back-and-forth contest.  The intense second half featured multiple lead changes and six different ties.
 
Using the momentum from the late first half run and having the benefit of six second half steals, the Ross were able to win tonight's close contest by outscoring Millsaps 41-35 in the second half.
 
Quinn Atkinson led the Majors in scoring with 18 points while Marc Robertson finished with 15.  Joshua McSwain led in rebounds with 11 as well (three offensive boards, 11 defensive).
 
The Majors will look to quickly regroup and earn their first win of the season this week in a local rivalry matchup.  The Millsaps Men's Basketball Team returns to the Hangar Dome to face Belhaven this Tuesday, Nov. 24th at 7:30 pm.
