Box Score Spokane, WA - The Millsaps Men's Basketball team fell to Whitworth University earlier today at Whitworth Fieldhouse in Spokane, Washington.

Today's contest began the longest road trip of the season for the Majors, as they fall in their first of two games played in Washington. The Pirates shot 49 percent from the field by going 31-63 and 37 percent on three pointers by going 15-40 to win 86-47. Whitworth, who is the second ranked team in the country (D3hoops.com ranking), continues their unbeaten season while the Majors drop their first game of the weekend.

The Pirates never trailed by going on a 12-2 run to start the game. Whitworth also led in points off turnovers (18-13), bench points (39-21) and second chance points (11-4). Both teams were nearly even for points in the paint as Whitworth held a slight advantage over Millsaps 24-22.

As a team, Millsaps shot 36 percent from the field by going 19-52. Freshman guard Trent Markwith led the Majors in scoring with 12 points and two rebounds. Senior forward Alex Gerchow also had a positive game with nine points, three rebounds, a steal and two blocks. Millsaps senior guard and native of Washington Rajan Hanstad had a single season high in point totals for today's contest as well.

The Majors will look to regroup for another game in Washington tomorrow against Whitman. The Millsaps Men's Basketball Team will travel 180 miles south to Walla Walla, Washington for another nonconference matchup tomorrow, Dec. 20th. Tip off from Winter Education Complex at Whitman is set for 1:00 pm PST.
