Box Score Lookout Mountain, GA – The Millsaps Men's Basketball team fell to Covenant College on the road by a score of 63-56.
 
The Scots of Covenant scored 21 points off of turnovers to earn their fourth win of the season.  The loss drops Millsaps to 1-5 on the young season as the Majors were not able to overcome a 34-26 halftime deficit.  The Majors bench outscored Covenant 18-17 while the Scots outscored Millsaps for points in the paint 24-20.
 
Down by six points heading into the second half, the Majors went on an 11-4 run to take the lead, their first of the game.  Covenant, however, answered on a fast break layup to begin a back and forth second half.  The intense second half, which featured multiple lead changes, reached its pivotal moment in the final three minutes of the game.
 
Senior guard Marc Robertson and junior guard Brenan Gagen converted a pair of three pointers to cut the Covenant lead to just three points.  The Scots responded with a quick jumper to make the contest a two-possession game.  With less than 60 seconds remaining, the Scots connected on their remaining free throws to secure a 63-56 victory.
 
Marc Robertson led the Majors in scoring with 11 points while Blake Jones finished close behind with 10.  Alex Gerchow completed a solid night on the boards with 12 rebounds (six offensive and six defensive).  In overall shooting, the Majors finished 21-59 on field goals (35.6 percent) and 7-16 on three-pointers (43.8 percent) while the Scots went 23-64 (35.9 percent) on field goals and 8-29 (27.6 percent) on three-pointers.
 
The Majors will look to quickly rebound for a pair of home games over the next week.  First up is a rematch against Centenary in the Hangar Dome at Millsaps College.  The Majors face the Gents of Centenary tomorrow, Dec. 6th for a 5:00 pm tip off.
