Box Score LaGrange, GA – The Millsaps Men's Basketball fell to LaGrange earlier tonight in a nonconference matchup by a score of 79-57.
The Panthers made 31 field goals on the night and outscored the Majors 40-24 for points in the paint to earn their 10th win of the season. Majors sophomore guard
Quinn Atkinson continued his solid play by leading Millsaps in scoring with 17 points. Atkinson followed up a 28-point performance against Birmingham Southern with his outstanding game tonight, increasing his point total to 45 in two days.
LaGrange trailed three times in tonight's contest, as they shot 44.9 percent (31-69) from the field and 23.3 percent (7-30) on three-pointers. The Majors began the game on a quick
Marc Robertson three-pointer. From there, Millsaps built upon the early first half lead.
LaGrange, however, answered on a 20-0 run with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. After the first half run, the Panthers held a 49-31-halftime lead. From there, they never looked back en route to their 10th win of the season.
In shooting totals, the Majors shot 41.5 percent (22-53) from the field and 38.1 percent (8-21) on three pointers.
Quinn Atkinson led in scoring with 17 points while
Marc Robertson finished with nine.
Alex Gerchow also had seven points, as four different Majors finished with two blocks each.
The Majors will look to rebound next weekend with a pair of conference games in Georgia. Next up for the Millsaps Men's Basketball Team is an SAA matchup against Oglethorpe next Friday, Jan. 8th. Tip off from Atlanta is set for 8:00 pm EST.
