JACKSON, Miss. -- The Millsaps Women's Basketball team will open their regular season Wednesday, Nov. 16 at next door rival Belhaven.

Last year, the Majors were the runner-ups in the SAA Championship, ending their season at 19-9 and 11-3 in conference. The Majors were very successful last year, having five players named to the All-Conference SAA team. Now assistant coach, Miah Brooks, and Kala-Jewel Freeman earned All-SAA Tournament honors in the SAA Tournament last year. Returner Braxton Thomas was SAA's Defensive Player of the Year and Freeman, Kim Klunk, and Kasi Matthews rounds off the list of All-Conference Majors returning.

Millsaps Women will be headed by Coach Justin LeBlanc, former Millsaps basketball player and former assistant men's basketball coach. When LeBlanc was Men's Basketball assistant coach, the Majors held a 67-43 overall record, captured the 2008 SCAC title, and advanced to the Elite 8 of the 2008 NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Tip off against Belhaven is at 6 p.m. at Belhaven.
