Box Score LONGVIEW, Tx. -- Millsaps Women's Basketball team wins on the road against LeTourneau 72-60.
Millsaps picks up its fifth double digit win of the year over LeTourneau. All five of the Majors wins this year have been decisive victories by double digits.Â
The Majors led for most of the game, getting off to a quick start early. Millsaps dominated the first quarter defensively, holding LeTourneau to only seven points total in the first ten minutes. The second quarter was a different story, as Millsaps struggled to score, only putting up five points to LeTourneau's 18 in the second. A rough second quarter closed the scoring gap between the teams and the game was competitive from that point on, with the Majors pulling away in a 28-17 fourth quarter.Â
Kala-Jewel Freeman had a huge game for Millsaps, leading all scorers with 26 points. She also racked up 10 rebounds for yet another double double on the year on 11-18 shooting from the field. She was joined in double figures by Braxton Thomas off the bench with 13 points and nine rebounds off the bench on 5-10 shooting. Brazia Jones was third on the team in scoring with nine points and seven rebounds. Â Kim Klunk also had a good game off the bench, coming in and getting eight points and nine rebounds. Katie Connor played nearly the entire game and racked up seven points, all on free throws to go along with four rebounds and four assists. Millicent Butler led all Majors in three point shots, knocking down two of her six attempts in route to six points on the night.Â
As a team, Millsaps shot 42.4% from the field despite having a poor three point shooting night. The Majors saw success attacking the basketball and offensive rebounding, racking up 14 offensive boards and getting to the line 27 times. This game featured three lead changes and four ties, with Millsaps finally seeing its largest lead of the night when putting the game away in the fourth quarter.
