Box Score JACKSON, Miss. -- Millsaps Women's Basketball team wins over Rust College at home in blowout fashion, 68-47.
Millsaps dominated in this matchup, taking the lead three minutes into the game and never giving it up. At the end of the first quarter the Majors led 19-11, locking down Rust's offense early. Millsaps then went on to hold Rust to only nine points in the second quarter, on 3-17 shooting for 17% from the field. Despite not having a great shooting half, the Majors defense dominated Rust, forcing them into bad shot after bad shot.
The second half continued the rout, holding Rust to only nine points again in the third, allowing them to comfortably sit on a 25+Â lead in the fourth quarter. In this game, Millsaps moved the ball extremely well, assisting on 18 of 20 made field goals.
Caroline Guilbeau's deep shooting led the Majors with four three pointers on the evening. She had 12 points, two assists and a steal.
Kala-Jewel Freeman led Millsaps with 13 points on 5-11 shooting and three steals.
Kim Klunk also joined the duo in double digits, scoring 10 points and getting two blocks. Balanced scoring made up the rest of the effort, with
Brazia Jones with eight,
Rebecca Harris and
Katie Connor with six,
Megan Donaldson and
Dajia Traylor-Craft with four, and Milllicent Butler and
Braxton Thomas with three and two points respectively.Â
