Box Score Jackson, MS – The Millsaps Men's Basketball Team began the weekend on a positive note with a double-digit conference home win.
 
Tonight's 76-61 victory over Oglethorpe gives the Majors their third win of the season as the Stormy Petrels fall to 11-11.  After trailing Oglethorpe at the half, Millsaps made the proper adjustments to outscore the Stormy Petrels 42-26 in the second half of play.  Four Majors scored in the double-digits, as Blake Jones led Millsaps with 22 points.
 
Millsaps trailed early in tonight's contest, which featured five lead changes and four different ties.  Oglethorpe led 9-2 early in the game, but the tenacious Majors answered by taking the lead on a 9-0 run. 
 
With the Stormy Petrels leading 35-34 after the first 20 minutes of play, the Majors came out firing on all cylinders in the second half.
 
A Quinn Atkinson layup gave the Majors their first lead since early in the first half.  From there, Millsaps expanded upon that lead by going on a 15-4 run.  After the large second half run, the Majors never looked back.
 
Millsaps outscored Oglethorpe 42-26 in the second half by shooting 51% from the field in the final 20 minutes of play.  The effective team offense secured the win for the Majors, as four players scored in the double-digits.
 
Blake Jones led the way with 22 points while Quinn Atkinson scored 19, Marc Robertson finished with 15 and Alex Gerchow totaled 10.  Robertson led the Majors in rebounds with eight as well.
 
In shooting totals, Millsaps finished 28-58 (48%) from the field and 6-14 (42%) on three pointers while Oglethorpe went 20-50 (40%) from the field and 4-23 (17%) on three pointers.
 
The Majors will look to close out the weekend on a positive note with another conference game at home.  Next up for the Millsaps Men's Basketball Team is a matchup against Berry Sunday, Feb. 14th.  Tip off from the Hangar Dome against the Vikings is set for 3:00 pm.
